Slice the Pie Review

Welcome to this slice the pie review where we will find out the answer to the question of whether or not you, or I can actually use slice the pie to make some money online.

If you’ve been curious about this company and the opportunity to make money online that it is supposed to offer, then you’ve come to the right place. We’re going to dive right in and find out for ourselves.

So let’s get started then. Let’s get right into slicing this pie to see what’s inside.

What is Slice the Pie? is touted to be first and foremost a music review site. It helps artistes all over the globe to get reviews for the music that they produce. It is commonplace for companies within the music industry to get thousands of submissions from artistes each and every day.

All these submissions in need of review in order to help to determine which songs will be able to do well in the market. That is where this company comes in, helping to provide reviews and feedback on these songs.

But these days the company is not just into music reviews as you will see as you read on further into this review.

Company information about SliceThePie

This company was founded back in 2007 by Mr. David Courtier-Dutton who had the idea of creating a music review website where upcoming artistes could have a stage to present their work and have it reviewed and rated.

Thus providing the artiste with important feedback about the works that they create and helping to identify those who are the best artistes in each genre.

Listening To Music For Review

Right now, the company is supposed to be the world’s largest music review engine online. This is an incredible accomplishment as the company is still relatively small. Only having a total of 18 persons on the team, with over half of that 18 being developers who possess Information Technology related skills.

The team is also not located in one place but instead work out of offices in both Reading in the UK and Connecticut in the USA.

If you’re wondering how the 18 person, team from this music review site can manage enough reviews to make them the number 1 review site. Well the answer is that they simply have a whole lot of help.

Help from people like you and me all over the world who do reviews for the company and in turn get to earn money online for doing that.

In 2015 the company also introduced additional review categories for people to review. So since then instead of just music reviews there have also been fashion reviews or clothing reviews, TV Series reviews, TV ad reviews, Mobile phone accessory reviews, Branding reviews, and even a lucky dip type of review.

With the addition of these new reviews the company not only provides real time predictive insights for music executives and artistes, but also designers, buyers and merchandisers working in both small and large organizations providing insights that help them to determine which products have the best chance of succeeding on the markets.

So how does Slice the Pie work?

Let’s look at this from the perspective of those of us who would like to earn money online by writing reviews for this company. To understand just how a person gets started earning money from slice-the-pie let’s look at the process step-by-step.

Naturally the first step would be to sign up with the company so we can start doing reviews. It’s possible that we may haveSliceThePie Review - Musical Notes been introduced to the company and the opportunity to make money by way of someone telling us verbally or maybe we came across some sort of review online.

Kinda like this one you’re reading right now. There would of course be a link that you click from the review website that takes you to If the person who wrote the review is a member of slice-the-pie themselves then you would have clicked on a referral link.

This means that if you go ahead and sign up for slice-the-pie yourself you now become a referral for that person who wrote the review, and they will now earn some referral income as a result of that. This is one way to earn money with this opportunity, and we will come back to this income method in a few minutes.

Slice The Pie sign up

Continuing on with our look at how Slicethepie works, the logical next step would be to sign up. To do this you have to go to the company website (click here to do so)

Once confirmed your account is now active and you’re almost ready to start reviewing.

You are now what the company refers to as a scout. All this basically means is that you are now one of the millions of persons all over the globe who are doing reviews for the company.

The next thing you need to do is log in to your account at the company website. You’ll be asked what kind of TV shows you like and what music genres. Answer the questions and after that you’re ready to earn right away.

How much can you make on slicethepie?

Now we’re down to where we’re actually going to see how much of the pie we can get for what we do on the website, but before we get to the compensation let us take a quick look at the different ways that we could actually make money on Slicethepie.

1. Get paid by writing reviews

The first method to make money here is by writing reviews and getting paid for them. So let’s look at writing music reviews as the company has gained most of its recognition as a music review site.

Ok, now, once you have logged in to your account you are going to be asked to select which category you want to find something to review from. That means whether you want to review music, fashion, tv ads etc. So we would choose music.

If there are currently songs on the website requiring reviews, we would be presented with one at random. The name of the artiste will not be provided and we would then be required to listen to that song for a period of not less than 90 seconds and at the end of the listening period write our review.

It is best to jot down quick notes as you listen if you can manage to do that. Then when you write your review you must make it as honest as possible.

Mention some of the things that you liked and possibly disliked about the song, say what you thought about the quality of the vocals, the beat, the instruments, and the composition.

Make your review as detailed as you possibly can as this will increase your rankings, and increased rankings will translate to you earning more money for each of the songs that you review.

Remember that each song is unique and different in its own way from all others. So make sure that you express the uniqueness of each of the songs that you review. Tell those who will read the review just how each particular song made you feel as you listened to it.

Finally, you will be required to rate the song that you listened to on a scale of 1 to 10. After you have done all of that then you submit your review. After you have submitted the review the amount you’ve earned is added to your account balance. You can then move on to review another song.

One important thing to mention here is that you should not try to cheat the system by copying and pasting the same thing for each review or anything like that, as it will not work and may end up getting you banned.

Read on as we will get into how much you get paid for your reviews in just a minute or so.

2. Use the Slice the Pie referral code

Referral income is the second way to make money with this review site. Remember earlier where we mentioned becoming someone’s referral if you clicked on a link from a member’s review page or website?

Slice The Pie Balance

Well if you join Slicethepie as the referral of an existing member then that member becomes eligible to earn a referral income which is equal to 10% of whatever that referral earns. This referral income is paid to the referrer for the duration of the first year that the newly referred member earns an income.

If you look at this on an individual level it certainly doesn’t look like much at all, but just imagine that you share information about the opportunity including sharing your referral link for interested persons to sign up and over a period of time 2,000 people like what you’ve told them about and decide to sign up.

The figures then would look a whole lot more enticing. This could be your reality as there are many ways that you can share your referral link. I will just mention a few possibilities here, just to open your eyes.

You could share your Slice-the-pie referral code via email, you could share it on your Facebook page and in Facebook groups, you could share it on Twitter, on Pinterest, in your Instagram description, and of course, you could share it by old fashioned word of mouth.

So those are the ways that you can earn money on the Slice the Pie website. Let’s get back to looking at how much money you can make.

How much can you make?

For your reviews at the basic beginner level you will earn between $0.01 to $0.03 for each standard review, but you will also earn $0.11 for a bonus review. At the highest level which is the 5-star level you earn $0.15 per standard review, and I’ve seen bonus reviews that pay $0.53

As you can see bonus reviews pay you more but what qualifies as a bonus review? Well in reality review options that qualify as bonus reviews change quite frequently. So one day it may be TV commercials, and another day it could be fashion related reviews.

The answer to the question of exactly how much money you can make doing reviews with this opportunity depends on factors such as your star rating at the time, how many bonus reviews you do and the quality of the reviews that you submit.

So in actual fact the earning potential will vary from person to person, but it is safe to say that you won’t make a whole lot of money from writing reviews, but you can however make enough money to pay some bills or if you’re a teenager you can make some pocket money by doing this.

If you decide to get some referrals as well this will increase your earning potential, because as explained earlier you earn 10% of whatever money your referrals make for the duration of 1 year. Therefore more referrals is equal to more referral commissions.

How to make more money on Slicethepie?

This is simple really. All you need to do is write the best reviews you possibly can and write as many reviews as you can. You also need to look out for every opportunity to write bonus reviews, and of course bring in some referrals who will become scouts so the company can pay you 10% commissions on the reviews that your referral scouts write.

Who can qualify for SlicethePie sign up?

Slice-the-Pie is available in most english speaking territories around the world, and in Germany as well.  To qualify to become a scout you must be at least 13 years of old and have access to a computer with a reasonable internet connection.  You can also use the Slice-the-Pie mobile app on an android device running Android 4.03 or later.  The mobile app is also available for the Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices running on IOS 8.0 or later.

Withdrawing your earnings

To withdraw your earnings from Slice-the-Pie you must have a valid PayPal account.  This account must be linked to the email that is registered on your account as a scout.  If you don’t already have a PayPal account then please go here to create one.

You can withdraw your funds to PayPal acount once you have accumulated a minimum of $10 in your trasactions balance on the site.  Whether you accumulate that amount by writing reviews, earning income from referrals, or a combination of both.

Once you have indicated that you want to withdraw money, your payment can take up to 5 working days to reach your PayPal account as the company says that they read all your reviews at that time before issuing your payment.

Payments are made on Tuesdays and Fridays of each week.

Slice the Pie complaints

There’s hardly a business out there whether online or off that operates totally complaint free.  As the old saying goes:

“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.”

― John Lydgate

So naturally i took a look to see what complaints were out there for this company.  I checked on sites like the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission and found nothing.  Then i checked on the SurveyPolice website and found the following.Slice the Pie complaintsIn all i found a total of about 7 complaints over a span of a few years dealing with matters such as the amount of money paid for each review to a couple of people saying that their accounts were shut down for suspicious reasons as soon as it got close to the $10 minimum withdrawal limit.  You can click on the image above to see all the complaints yourself.

There are also complaints on the Trustpilot website where 53 out of a total of 87 reviews had a rating of either poor or bad.  I ran through quite a few of the complaints and they seemed to be addressing the same sort of things as on SurveyPolice.  Low payments, some people couldn’t access the site, couldn’t find any reviews etc.

To see those reviews please visit the TrustPilot website here.

Is SlicethePie a scam or legit?

What’s your opinion on the matter?

Here’s what i think about the whole thing.

Judging by what i’ve found during my research into this company and the money making opportunity that it presents i have come to the conclusion that it is not a scam.  It is indeed legit.  The company is a legitimate company offering a much needed service to upcoming artistes as well as designers and marketing companies

The reviews that the scouts write are used to provide much needed feedback to these stakeholders.  Feedback that will help them to determine the best brands, tv ads and music to make available for television and radio audiences as well as best products for the consumer markets too.

Is SlicethePie A Scam?

However, while i do not see it as a scam there are some things that i dislike about the whole business opportunity.  Here’s a listing of the pros and cons, as i see them.

Free to join

Provides an important service

Pays through PayPal

Low payment threshold

Can refer others

Paid for referrals for 12 months

Very low earning per review

Even lower earnings for referrals

Payments delayed for 5 working days after payment request

Accounts can be closed and access restricted at any time

Weighing pros and cons of slice the pie

Weighing the pros and the cons of Slice The Pie

In my opinion the cons outweigh the pros.  Why do i say that?  Well simply because i believe the main reason why someone would sign up as a scout is to make some money.  Therefore the fact that you earn such a little bit for each review and so much less on each referral will mean that you have to spend a whole lot of time and effort to earn anything worthwhile.

Then again there’s the fact that some people have reported having their accounts closed just as they were getting to the point that they could request payment doesn’t sound good at all.  Can you imagine that happening to you after you’ve spent your time writing so many reviews.

Also what’s this about having to go back over a person’s reviews before sending their funds to PayPal?  I would expect that the reviews would have been vetted at the time the review was submitted.  This sounds strange too.

To me all the above amounts to a bad experience for the scouts of this company.  If they want to make things better and give their scouts a better experience they should think of increasing the amount they pay per review and fix that issue with the length of time that people have to wait for payments.

Failing that they should just stick to using teens and other young people who are just interested in listening to the latest music even before it gets released and who don’t mind making a little bit of money while they do.  Those are the perfect people for this online music review gig.

I had short access to Slice the Pie while visiting a friend in Canada. It’s a pretty interesting site and the growing number of new artiste caught me by surprise. Some of the songs are way better than contemporary ones. The only downside is that when I returned to Asia, I could no longer access the site and actually have a few dollars sitting in the account. I wonder if using a VPN can help me continue this little side venture.

Cathy it’s great to hear from you. It sounds like when you’re home in Asia you’re behind the great firewall or something like that. If that’s the case then yes, i believe that a VPN can help you. I spent some time in the People’s Republic of China and experienced similar problems. VPN’s were a great help.

I had never heard of this company before, but i think it’s a really interesting way to earn money online and it’s something I never would have though of myself.  I like the fact that you went away and researched the negative customer reviews so that we don’t have to!

From your conclusion I don’t think I will be using this website, but it’s interesting to know what’s out there and thanks for the very informative content.

Thank you so much for sharing with us a beautiful and wonderful article. The main content of this article is to Slice the Pie. The detailed discussion about Slicethepie in your article is truly remarkable.Even though I was a member of the Slice the Pie, I still got an idea from your article that I was previously unaware of. Slice the Pie is a site where you can earn money by reviewing any article.

I am also a member of the Slice the Pie site where I write reviews and make a certain amount of money every month. I’ve been using this site from my iPhone a few months ago. I’m just earning some money by writing reviews and using my referral code to earn some more money from this site.

I Loved reading your article and enjoyed it so I’d like to share your article in my Facebook group so that everyone can know about this Slice the Pie review site and can join here.

Hi! This is an interesting platform. And although the earning potential is low I’ll join it. And these are my reasons:

1. I want to be sure a platform is not a scam but once I’ve researched and read good reviews about it, I’ll join.

2. I want to have multiple sites that generate some income (it doesn’t matter if it’s not much).

3. At this time, PayPal is convenient for me so thumbs up for that too.

Thanks for sharing your decision with me regarding the Slice The Pie money making opportunity. I hope you enjoy the journey and i also hope you get a large slice of the pie.

Glad you liked the article Kay. Happy i was able to open your eyes to the Slice The Pie opportunity and it’s associated pros and cons.

Thomas S. · at 2:31

I will say that is a pretty good idea.  I had never heard of Slice The Pie until I came upon your website.  I don’t think I like the name of it much, but oh well. I’m thinking this is perfect for the millennial who loves listening to music and it seems like eventually you could be making some decent money. The bonus money is where it seems to be at and I imagine if you are creative enough, you could hit a lot of those.  I don’t think it’s really for me.  I am kind of set in my ways when it comes to music and I really don’t think my reviews wold have much to offer.  I’m literally stuck in the 70 or 80’s and some country when it comes to music!

    Donald · at 4:45

Nice to hear from you Thomas. Yours is quite an interesting comment too. So you’re stuck in the 70’s and 80’s you say? Nothing wrong with that really. Those were 2 awesome decades for music and there are a lot of people out there stuck like you are.
I like the music from that era too but i guess i’ve also grown to love some of the later stuff as well.
